Agrifirm and MS Schippers agreed to form a partnership to improve piglet quality. The HyCare method developed by MS Schippers has become part of Agrifirm's piglet concept. Thanks to strict hygiene management, HyCare leads to a significant reduction in infection pressure. Both parties believe that the integration of HyCare in Agrifirms TOP approach to piglets benefits the return of investment, animal health, and work satisfaction at every pig farm.

Maternity / Pig hotel Hannen-Mevissen of the Hannen family is the first company to start working on this new piglet concept, which can be applied in existing farms. On 5 March 2020, the festive kick-off of the collaboration between Agrifirm and MS Schippers will take place at their company in Heibloem.

Piglet quality first

With its "TOP approach for Piglets", Agrifirm focuses, together with pig farmers, on improving piglet quality. This approach includes not only a customized feeding program but also a scan to measure pig quality, high-quality advice, and monitoring of performance. Ron Coppens, sales manager at Agrifirm: "Hygiene is an important pillar within Agrifirm's piglet concept. By adding HyCare, we are taking the next step in pig quality."

The HyCare method

MS Schippers is always looking for ways to optimize animal health and thereby reduce the use of antibiotics in livestock farming. That is why HyCare was developed. HyCare is a hygiene management method based on five pillars that together lead to the highest level of biosafety. Farmers who work with HyCare maximize the hygiene at their farm. It prevents introduction, minimizes cross-contamination, and therefore gives germs virtually no chance. This lowers the infection pressure, which leads to an improvement in the health status of the animals. In other words: healthy animals.
